A technical issues with lighting on the runway at Heathrow Airport thas caused disruption this morning and delays to flights leaving the gateway.
The airport said it had fixed the problem, but advised travellers to check their flight status with their airline before coming to the airport, as many flights are set to be put back.
British Airways initially said that it was diverting some flights but it now says contingency plans have been activated and it expects to operate a full schedule – with some delays.
A statement posted on Heathrow Airport Twitter account said: “Following earlier runway lighting issues both runways are now open and operational.
” Whilst we’re continuing to monitor the situation, please check your flight status with your airlines before travelling. We apologise for any disruption to your journey.”
