Malaysia Airports commissions NACO for KLIA future vision

NACO – Netherlands Airports Consultants – a company of Royal HaskoningDHV has been requested by Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (Malaysia Airports) to develop the future vision and master plan for its flagship airport – KL International Airport (KLIA).

In commissioning NACO for this initiative, Malaysia Airports is preparing KLIA not only for its future growth but also ensuring its readiness in embracing Airports 4.0, thus improving the total airport experience for airport users.

Malaysia Airports is one of the world’s top five airport operator groups in terms of number of passengers handled and operates 39 airports in Malaysia. On top of which, the airport operator group fully owns Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen Airport in Turkey and has investment holdings in Hyderabad Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in India.

For decades, NACO has been responsible for laying the groundworks for successful airports of the future, as original designer of airports such as Changi, Schiphol and Suvarnabhumi.

Similarly, today, it is at the forefront of applying its vision on new technology & digitization to airports, such as integration of the ‘Happy Flow’ in its design for Aruba Airport’s expansion and ‘security as a service’ and baggage innovations at Schiphol.

All these innovations are geared towards improving the total airport experience for both passengers and stakeholders, a core focus for KLIA’s future vision.

A press conference announcing the agreement was held today at the Passenger Terminal Expo & Conference 2019 in London.
