Airlines for Europe (A4E) has released a statement regarding a strike by air traffic control workers in France.
It reads: “Air traffic controllers (ATCs) in France have called for a nationwide strike which began Monday, 21 May at 17:00 (UTC) and will last until Wednesday, 23 May at 04:00 (UTC).
Among A4E airlines, over 500 flights have already been cancelled today, affecting some 70,000 passengers and cargo. Delays are severe (mostly en-route)
In addition: There has been a 300 per cent increase in air traffic control strikes in France compared with the same period last year
Already ATC strikes in 2018 have impacted over half a million travellers through cancellations alone — the majority of them without the possibility of being notified in advance.”
