Air New Zealand to offer industry-first meat-free burger onboard

Air New Zealand is to become the first airline in the industry to offer a meat-free burger onboard.

The product, entitled the Impossible Burger, was launched in the US two years ago and has become popular with those seeking a meat-free, environmentally-conscious alternative.

The airline will be serving the burger in business class on its LA-Auckland route. It is to review its popularity in October.

The offering of the burger is part of Air New Zealand’s commitment to forward-thinking and sustainable practices.

The Kiwi-based airline is also focusing on electric ground support equipment, airside buses and working on sustainable fuel for its planes.

Vegetarian options onboard passenger planes have been criticized in the past for being too far and few between.
