Airport Ground Staff Confirmed Infected with COVID-19 Work Area Cleaned and Disinfected

Airport Authority Hong Kong (AA) has been notified by a ground service equipment management contractor that a staff was tested positive for COVID-19. Earlier the staff voluntarily participated in the COVID-19 test provided by the Department of Health for airport staff and received negative result on 2 October. The staff last reported duty on 4 October. It is understood that the concerned staff had dinner with a friend after work on 4 October, who was later tested positive for COVID-19. The staff thus was tested again and confirmed to have contracted COVID-19 on 7 October.

The relevant work area has already been cleaned and disinfected. The workstation of the contractor has been temporarily relocated to another location. All staff working at the location will be arranged to be tested for COVID-19.

The AA has stringent guidelines for airport service providers and contractors to ensure the public health safety of airport staff and passengers. The airport community has been reminded to take appropriate precautionary measures to minimise the risk of contracting and spreading COVID-19.
