Airport Snow Blower G2 Kahlbacher introduces latest generation

The Kitzbühel-based winter service experts have presented the concept for their new airport snow blowers with approx. 1300 bhp on the Interairport, heralding in a new era. For the first time, the new G2 offers the possibility to drive two different front attachments and proves that is state-of-the-art with its Intelligent Power Train (IPT) and new ECO mode. Kahlbacher was able to convince two of Europe’s largest airports with its new products, adding them to their customer base.

Following decades of cooperation in this area Kahlbacher relies on MAN technology for its new airport snow blowers. Those in the know are already familiar with the double engine concept on a serial production chassis, but under the bonnet the new machine comes with loads of technological marvels and innovative systems. Thanks to a novel Intelligent Power Train the blower’s drive system combines efficiency with extraordinary comfort. Apart from an economical ECO mode – a feature that every modern vehicle offers by now – a soft-run feature that puts less stress on the powertrain is also on board.

However, due to increasing demands and regulations at the world’s airports, Kahlbacher’s main intention was to drive two different front attachments with its G2. The High Speed Blower is particularly suited to clear runways at high speed and can be replaced with the Power Loader loading attachment. Thus equipped, every airport is prepared for all kinds of snow clearing tasks as well as the future – no matter what it might bring.

The concept is so convincing that Kahlbacher already received the first orders. In the future four G2s will be used to clear snow from the run- and taxiways of Frankfurt am Main’s airport. Luxembourg Airport, another long-standing customer of Kahlbacher’s, will upgrade its winter service department with a second Kahlbacher high-performance snow blower.

Thus, Kahlbacher’s booth fully focussed on the next generation. The handover of the last machines from the previous generation to Cologne Bonne Airport marked the end of the series and the presentation of the new G2 opened the gates to the latest generation.
