Asheville Regional Airport and Spirit receive incentive package

The operator of Asheville Regional Airport has granted Spirit Airlines an incentive package worth $875,000 as the airline begins three routes to Florida from the airport next month.

The Greater Asheville Regional Airport Authority has given the airline $98,000 per route for marketing and advertising.

The three routes run between Asheville and Fort-Lauderdale, Orlando and Tampa.

The deal also includes financial incentives for the ground handling of Spirit’s services at the North Carolina airport.

It is apparently the airport’s policy to offer financial incentives to promote any new routes out of the airport. Asheville prides itself on its regional connectivity.
