Baggage handler strike at Copenhagen Airport causes delays

Passengers at Copenhagen Airport have experienced delays after baggage handlers working for SAS Ground Handling (SGH) went on strike for the second consecutive day.

Despite the short length of the disruptions, Copenhagen Airport issued a warning to passengers that any airlines using SGH could experience disruptions, including: SAS, Danish Air Transport, Eurowings, Icelandair, Qatar Airways and Thai Airways.

“Based on SGH staff industrial action in breach of its collective bargaining agreement, moderate delays may be incurred by airlines where baggage is handled by SGH,” said Copenhagen Airport communications officer Maria Noel.

“The same applies for the delivery of baggage for arriving airlines whose baggage is handled by SGH.”

Passengers were advised by Noel to check the airport’s website to see whether SGH is responsible for their luggage, adding that delays can also be monitored on their airline’s website.
