Biggest Midnight Runway Run set to return in June at Aberdeen International Airport

This year’s unique midnight Runway Run at Aberdeen International Airport is aiming to be the biggest yet.

With a course like no other, 400 runners will be given the opportunity to take on the extended 4km course raising money for charities.

Once again, CHC Helicopters and Aberdeen International Airport will partner up to bring the run to the Dyce terminal for a fourth year.

In 2022 300 participants signed up and took part in the event on the lit up runway.

Tickets go on sale this Thursday (April 27) with runners urged to sign up for the June 24 event.

Aberdeen International Airports chosen charities We Too! and Kayleigh’s Wee Stars will benefit from the run along with CHC Helicopters chosen charity yet to be appointed.

CHC Helicopter Captain Ryan Broadhurst organises the event with the airport’s operations team.

He said: “It is always great to return once again to Aberdeen International Airport for the Runway Run.

“This is our fourth event with 400 spots on offer and a 4km distance.

“Working with the airport team to co-ordinate the challenge and bring 400 runners on to the runway for charity is really special.

“I’d like to extend a big thank you to everyone who engaged with us last year and look forward to welcoming everyone back for another race on the runway this summer.

“I also want to say thank you to our new sponsors who have come on board.”

Mark Beveridge, Operations Director at Aberdeen International Airport said: “Last year’s sold out event was a huge success raising more than £40,000 for charity.

“We’d encourage runners of all abilities to apply for a space in the most exclusive running event in the region.

“We’re delighted to open up our runway to our runners once more and look forward to working in partnership with CHC Helicopter to raise essential funds for worthy causes.”

Ace Aviation, Signature Flight Support, ABM, Hampton by Hilton, Falck Fire Services and NATs have all signed up to become sponsors of the Runway Run this year and will be involved on the night.

With a new longer distance, new records are up for grabs at the Runway Run with all participants starting at the same time.

New sponsors have also come on board to the Runway Run.

Times are recorded using chip technology for each individual runner.

Tickets will be £25 with a target sponsorship of £100 per participant.

Participants of all running abilities are welcome, tickets are available to purchase from the official Runway Run website at 1800 on Thursday, April 27 from www.aberdeenrunwayrun.co.uk
