Brisbane Airport ranked in top 10 across the globe

Brisbane Airport (BNE) in Australia has been ranked, within its category, among the top 10 airports across the globe for this year’s OAG Punctuality League report.

The Punctuality League is based on records of 58 million flights, using year-round data from across 2018 to create a ranking of the best on-time performance (OTP) for the world’s largest airports and airlines. BNE ranked eighth in the Large Airports category of 10-20 million departing seats a year, with an OTP of 82.58%.

Gert-Jan de Graaff, Chief Executive Officer at Brisbane Airport Corporation, said: “OTP is a very important measure of multiple systems and schedules working efficiently, despite being significantly influenced by factors beyond our control such as weather and complexities within the broader national and international network.

“We cannot achieve the result we have without the extensive work, research, technology and innovation being done in this area by so many of our partners across Australia and the world.

He said they expect OTP to continue to improve with the opening of Brisbane’s new runway in the middle of 2020 which will effectively double Brisbane Airport’s capacity, providing us with the most efficient runway system in Australia.
