Gatwick staff told to use professional language when addressing passengers

Gatwick Airport staff have reportedly been sent an external memo reminding them to use professional and courteous language when addressing passengers and to refrain from using terms such as ‘love’ or ‘darling’.

The memo was sent by a contractor and supplier to the staff stating that a recent complaint to the company has led it to suggest that language such as ‘darling’ is not deemed professional.

The company noted that courteous language is important and staff should deliver this to customers.

Gatwick Airport itself commented on the memo noting that it takes complaints very seriously, even ones sent to its business partners.
