HKIA: Baggage and Cargo Handling Staff Preliminary Tested Positive for COVID-19

Airport Authority Hong Kong (AA) received a report from Hong Kong Airport Services Limited (HAS) that a staff member has been preliminary tested positive for COVID-19. Relevant areas visited by the staff have been cleaned and disinfected.

The concerned staff is responsible for departure baggage loading and cargo handling, and has no physical contact with passengers. He last reported duty on 5 January. The staff had worn a mask at all time while working. Staff members in the same team with the concerned staff are arranged to undergo COVID-19 tests and wait for results at home.

Earlier a worker of Terminal 2 modification works was preliminary tested positive for COVID-19. He was confirmed to have contracted COVID-19 on 6 January. Five workers of the same contractor of the project who had work contact with the concerned worker have been identified as close contacts of the confirmed case. They last reported duty on 5 January and were arranged by the Government to undergo quarantine.
