Hong Kong International Airport will introduce a new baggage handling fee levied on the airlines at its airport.
The fee introduced by the airport will charge airlines for placing luggage on the airport’s carousels. The charge is believed to be around 1.32 HKD per checked bag.
Ground handling staff will no longer be responsible for off-loading luggage and transporting it to carousels, the operator of Hong Kong airport stated.
Some have argued that the levy is unfair considering Hong Kong International is making record profits this year.
