Indonesian airport worker wounded in accidental shooting

An airport worker was wounded recently after a police officer accidentally discharged a firearm at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang, Indonesia.

The incident occurred around 6am on Sunday morning at the check-in desk of Garuda Indonesia  in Terminal 3, during the police officer being assisted in unloading his firearm before catching a flight.

The bullet was reported to have hit the floor of the terminal and it bounced off the floor and grazed the leg of a ground handling worker.

It was reported that an incident such as this has never happened at the airport before.

The airport noted that there is a specific room dedicated to allowing the discharging of weapons, so the decision to do so in the terminal by the officer was ‘disappointing’.
