Lyon airport was closed today as police chased a suspect’s car down the runway causing significant disruption to the French airport.
Flights were diverted from landing at Lyon airport while the incident took place on the runway. It is understood the suspect was eventually caught.
Some flights were grounded into the afternoon following the police chase. A short video of it taking place can be seen below.

The Evening Standard reported that witnesses saw the car driving at high speeds along the local highway which led into the airport.
It is not known what the motive of the driver was.
