Magnetic MRO services to supply line maintenance for Air Nostrum

A global MRO company – Magnetic MRO – will be supplying full line aircraft maintenance services to Air Nostrum, an independent aviation company which operates as a franchisee of Iberia.

The maintenance contract, that will be carried out at Zagreb and Copenhagen airports, will see Magnetic MRO service three Bombardier CRJ1000 aircraft out of their fleet of 40 CRJs. The line maintenance support options include technicians, tooling and logistics.

Stating on the company’s website, Andrei Tchurikov, Line Maintenance Manager at Magnetic MRO, said the company was delighted to be cooperating with long-term client Air Nostrum in Zagreb and Copenhagen Airports. He added: “The strong presence in strategically located international airports puts us in a great position to serve Magnetic MRO’s customer relationship as well as international growth strategies.”

The Bombardier CRJ1000 is the latest aircraft in Iberia Regional/Air Nostrum’s fleet seating up to 100 passengers. The aircraft measures 39.1m long with a 26.2m wing span and specialises in short and medium haul flights. Strategically located at Zagreb and Copenhagen airports, Magnetic MRO is in pole position to create convenient and efficient solutions during the summer season for Air Nostrum.

“With the importance of the Bombardier CRJ1000, line maintenance projects like this would ideally be carried out undercover,“commented Aviation Hangar Specialist Andrew Knox. “This type of narrow body passenger aircraft is an ideal candidate to be maintained in a custom designed, low-cost hangar environment. An alternative solution to traditional aircraft hangars is a semi-permanent fabric hangar, which is designed with flexibility in mind.”

The Eastern European MRO industry is changing and flexible MRO hangar options would help support this evergrowing market and adapt to end users’ maintenance, repair and overhaul needs. Quick building project lead times and maintenance operation time scales are crucial to minimise time on the ground.

A world leader in supplying alternative hangar solutions, that can be rapidly designed and deployed, is Rubb Buildings Ltd. easyJet selected Rubb UK to design, manufacture and construct their latest top-flight MRO hangar facility at Gatwick Airport.

Brendan McConnellogue, easyJet’s Head of Maintenance, commented on this project: “The Rubb team who worked on site were absolutely first class. The first steel went in the ground on December 14 and by May 19 we were able to introduce the first aircraft into the hangar.”

As well as being successful in the contract with Air Nostrum, Magnetic MRO have announced that they will further expand their line maintenance capabilities for the Airbus A330 in 2018.
