Menzies Aviation announces Air China ground handling contract

Airport services company Menzies Aviation has announced a new contract with Air China at Nice Airport, as well as a cargo contract renewal at San Francisco Airport.

The contract at Nice Airport will run for three years, starting on 3 August 2019, with Menzies set to provide ground handling services on three Air China flights from Beijing Capital Airport per week, totalling 156 flights per year and 18,000 turns.

“This has been a significant year for our relationship with Air China, and we are delighted to be chosen as the airline’s trusted ground handling partner as it embarks on operations at Nice Airport,” said Giles Wilson, Chief Executive Officer.

“Winning our first widebody customer is an important step for Menzies at Nice Airport, and is a result of the continued hard work and dedication of the local ground handling team.”

The Air China contract is Menzies’ first at Nice airport to service widebody aircraft, although it had previously serviced narrowbody aircraft at the airport, and continues to do so.

Although Nice is the first airport at which Menzies services Air China in Southern Europe, the company provides ground handling services for the Chinese airline at other locations including London Heathrow, Macau International Airport and Los Angeles International Airport.

Menzies also renewed a cargo contract with Air China, also for three years, at San Francisco Airport, to handle over 8,000 tonnes of cargo per year for the airline.
