Milan Bergamo Airport welcomes 12 millionth passenger

Following another hugely successful year in increasing its passenger traffic, Milan Bergamo Airport has today welcomed its 12 millionth passenger this year, the first time this milestone has been reached in the airport’s history.

Experiencing an average passenger traffic growth above 10% throughout 2017, the Italian airport’s development has been heightened by the launch of 20 new flights and the significant arrival of three new airlines – Arkia Israeli Airlines, Ernest Airlines and Ukraine International Airlines – as a result, the airport now boasts 17 scheduled carriers in its portfolio.

Today’s achievement was celebrated with Chiara Filipponi, who was Milan Bergamo’s 12 millionth passenger travelling to Lisbon with Ryanair: “After breaking our passenger traffic record in 2016, it’s a rewarding time to watch our development continue for another year,” enthuses Emilio Bellingardi, General Director, SACBO.

“We are only able to reach our goals with everyone at the airport working together, welcoming over one million more passengers than we did last year speaks volumes for our hard work. We will continue to do all we can to ensure Milan Bergamo remains an attractive market for our partners and our customers,” added Bellingardi.
