Passengers with electric cars travelling to Mumbai International Airport will be happy to know that the airport is installing charging facilities.

Mumbai International Airport Limited has announced it will install the stations terminal side for passengers but also airside for ground handlers and airlines to charge vehicles.

The airport is reportedly aiming to find an operator for the facilities and has invited companies to run the stations.

DNA India reported that an official from the airport said, “installation will be done as per the civil aviation guidelines and it will be part of the current operation and maintenance contract”.

The whole country is to become more electrified, according to the website with the Indian government aiming to have 30% of total vehicles running in the country by 2030.

Passenger traffic has increased 100% in the last 12 years, according to the site, with maximum capacity meaning more of an imperative to be environmentally-conscious.
