As Vice-President of Technical Services, Peter Martin has varied and extensive experience in aviation and leadership roles. ​Over the course 25 years, Peter has built his professional practice to incorporate operations management and personnel leadership, as well as client account management in large-scale logistics environments. ​Peter also manages services with a mandate to remediate underperforming operations, first by turning around staff morale and performance and focusing on mentoring and empowerment. Building on a solid and engaged workforce, his focus is on reconfiguring operations to drive down costs and improve compliance against SLAs.

Kristof Philips joined TCR 2 years ago as general manager UK &  Ireland. Under Kristof’s lead, TCR UK successfully supported LTN Airport and the LTN Airport community in the launch of the pooling at LTN resulting in significant efficiency gains for all the stakeholders involved. Moreover, TCR joined a taskforce with LGW defining the ideal pooling solution. Next to Pooling, TCR UK has increasingly focused on GSE innovation, including the recent launch of the Mototok pushback solution with its Customer Menzies Aviation across the UK.

Thilo, born in 1962, is co-founder and sales and marketing director of Mototok GmbH, based in Krefeld. Thilo founded Mototok in 2002 with engineer Kersten Eckert initially with the aim of developing, manufacturing and marketing small, flat electric tractors for easier maneuvering in hangars. In the meantime, more than 750 machines have been delivered worldwide and Thilo is still fascinated by the innovations that are possible to pull and push aircraft of all kinds.

Patryk has worked at LS Airport Services S.A. for 20 years, starting in the passenger division in 1997. In 2012 Patryk became Quality Manager involved in the development of QMS. He was also the initiator of joining ISAGO and propagator of SMS implementation. Patryk is a current member of IATA Airside Safety Group while also taking part in the “Mobile Simulator of Processes of Aircraft Ground Handling” project developed together with the Faculty of Transport of Warsaw University of Technology.

As Technical Director for RTITB Airside, Nick oversees the development of all training and safety standards, the majority of his time is spent working with airports and ground handling service providers developing technical training manuals. Nick is a qualified ISO9001 lead auditor as well as being a qualified automotive engineer and transport manager. Nick has worked with the aviation sector since 2011 and in that time has provided technical expertise and consultancy for over 40 training publications for RTITB Airside customers in Europe and Asia.

Hannu Hakkarainen is the Head of Airside Operations for Finnair, MSc, Logistics. Hannu joined Finnair in 2016 and he is now responsible for Finnair Ground Operations’s below the wing operations including processes, safety, and compliance. Prior to Finnair, he worked for Swissport Finland responsible for operations, planning functions and the Operations Control Center.

With 29 years’ aviation experience Liam has covered a wide variety of operational roles from Operations Manager, Senior Manager Airfield Operations and more recently, Head of Airside Operations. Over the past 5 years, the focus has been on the restructure of operational activities creating a highly effective team of colleagues encompassed in one single operational department, AirOps. As designated Safety Manager, other key responsibilities include the ongoing development and management of the Operational Safety Management System (SMS), the Airside Training Programme and Competency Scheme and Summer and Winter Operations.

Jeno is a competent operations professional having over 22 years of experience in the aviation industry. Mr. Kovacs began his career with Qatar Aviation Services 11 years ago and currently holds the Vice President Operations position. His experience in Airside Operations, Baggage Operations and Ramp Transport, Operations Control, Passenger Services and General Aviation qualifies him to be a responsible leader for a total workforce of over 6,000 operational grade employees, with five Heads of Department as direct reports, which all contribute in providing ground handling services to over 222,000 aircraft movements per year.

David O'Connell has been working in RF and Microwave Technologies since 1979. A career in the Army enabled his growth as a system engineer in many applications. These skills were transferred in 1994, to a business development role for Rhode and Schwarz. Establishing defence and commercial contracts in ATC, Naval, Telephony and Avionic environments, he grew sales skills to become Head of Sales of Airborne Communications Systems at BAE Systems. A spell as a director of a component manufacturer for the mobile market was the predecessor of establishing dBD Communications in 2002, specialising in communication systems.

Paul Drever is qualified in commercial vehicle engineering, with a 6 year City & Guilds and Institute of the Motor Industry qualifications. Paul has previously taken the roles of GSE Technician for Avia Trading Holland for 5 years, 5 years as GSE Technician for Ogden Aviation,  5 years as GSE Manager at Menzies Aviation Netherlands, 2 years as GSE manager Netherlands and Spain for Menzies Aviation. He then spent 2 years as GSE Manager, Europe for Menzies Aviation and 10 years as Network Manager Technical Standards and Compliance Manager for Menzies Aviation. Since July 2017, Paul has assumed the role of Menzies Aviation’s General Manager for  GSE standards and engineering. He works on setting GSE standards for Menzies wide network and provides technical advice for stations, maintenance program setups, GSE safety investigations, service bulletin distribution, GSE supplier contact, and GSE emission standards. He is a member of the IATA GSEE group.

With more than 28 years in the airline industry, Hervé has held several managerial positions within airlines notably with Air France-KLM and is currently providing tailor-made solutions and ISAGO implementation to Ground Handling companies. He is an ISAGO auditor, a lecturer for Aviation Management Masters at ENAC, the French Civil Aviation University, and an instructor in SMS, Station Management, Emergency Response.

Since 2010, Jan Vana has been the director at WheelTug plc www.wheeltug.gi, an innovative company in the field of electric taxiing. He leads the overall business development and he is primarily responsible for relationships with airlines/aircraft operators, airports, air navigation services, and MROs. Vana is also responsible for WheelTug sales and marketing, as well as coordinating the program’s entry into service with the rest of the executive team. He was previously the commercial director of ABS Jets and the executive director of Czech Airlines.

Jo Massé is attaché at the Belgian Civil Aviation Authority (BCAA). Together with this colleagues, Jo Massé has been working actively on new Belgian national regulation in relation to ground handling activities at Brussels National airport. This regulation aims at an improvement of the quality and safety of ground handling services and at measures to prevent incidents and accidents. Before starting with this job, Jo Massé has served as an aircraft engineer at European Air Transport / DHL and Air Contractors for more than 10 years.

Owen has been in the aviation industry since 1999 with all his career at Mallaghan. He has held various roles within Mallaghan in after sales, spare parts sales and was appointed Sales Director back in 2012. Owen will assist the panel in discussing the new IATA AHM 913 anti-collison that was introduced from 1st July 2018  and what GSE manufacturers have done to meet this legislation etc.

As Safety Manager, David has as main function the development and maintenance of the handling’s SMS in effective and integrated way, including all the IBAS stations net. He shall advice IBAS management board about safety situation and actions, and manage local safety manager’s assignments to work as an aligned organization. IBAS handled during 2022, more than 300.000 aircrafts, with more than 88million PAX and 52million baggage. IBAS works in 29 Spanish airports with a 8000 people workforce, 3000 motorized GSE and 5000 non-motorized GSE. MsC in Industrial Engineering specialized in Electronics and Mastered in Business Administration, David has a 20 year experience in the Aviation Industry, initially in the MRO area (12 years), later moving to Airport Services.

In 2009, out of a German academy of technical sciences (ACATECH) desire for an efficient co-operation between economy, politics and science, he founded the Deutsches Dialog Institut. In 2011, he founded the battery development company Kolibri Power Systems which through a management buyout in 2015 was turned into the product and solution provider Colibri Energy GmbH.

Anders started at Vestergaard as construction engineer, designing aircraft de-icers. After years as design engineer, Anders became more and more involved in external activities. In 1999 Anders moved to Vestergaard sales department, with Technical sales as responsibility. He also operated as account Manager for central Europe and parts of the Far East. Anders is now Chief Sales Officer at Vestergaard Company. He is member of SAE, and involved in standardization work here, as well as within CEN, ISO and IATA.

Frank has been with ifm since 2012 and helps customer to setup and integrate ifm’s 3D sensors in their machines. As the responsible field application engineer for all kinds of 2D and 3D sensors he is the go-to person for consultation to choose the right sensor, the right setup and the correct way to integrate them with all the other systems on a mobile machine. Since the first revisions of the new AHM edition showed up Frank is working on a solution for aircraft proximity detection. He has helped some customers in the industry to build up their solutions that use ifm 3D sensors.
