Pittsburgh International Airport suggests using natural gas to generate power

The airport authority in Pittsburgh has suggested that Pittsburgh International Airport is considering the idea of using natural gas to generate power on site.

The Allegheny County Airport Authority is considering building a natural gas powergrid to power the airport and the manufacturing companies that reside on its property.

TribLive in the area reported that CEO of Pittsburgh Airport, Christina Cassotis stated ““The grid would provide energy at the airport powered by natural gas, which also benefits the industry that happens to be right here on our property, so it benefits us.”

The CEO noted that the airport would switch to the grid system if it was more cost efficient than the current system.
