The Chinese Communist Party is investigating the head of the state-owned Shanghai Airports Authority for alleged corruption as the country’s President, Xi Jinping continues a drive against shady practice.

Wu Jianrong of the airports operator has come under government scrutiny according to a report by Bloomberg.

The individual is under suspicion of violating party rules and state laws.

The Communist Party has kept tabs on the aviation sector in regards to corruption; a former China Southern Airlines executive was sent to prison in April last year for taking bribes, as Bloomberg reported.

President Jinping has spent the last five years in clamping down on corruption in the public and private sector.
