Sheremetyevo passenger numbers grow in first half of 2019

Sheremetyevo International Airport in Moscow has announced its operating results for June and the first half of 2019, with total passenger traffic showing a 14.1 per cent increase year-on-year.

The airport served 23 million passengers in total in the first half of this year, which also saw 188,346 take-off and landing operations, a 14.6 per cent year-over-year increase.

Both international and domestic flights experienced a surge in growth, with passengers on domestic flights showing an increase of 17.3 per cent (11 million people) and international passengers growing by 11.5 per cent (12 million people.

Between January and June 2019, the most popular international destinations to fly to were Antalya, Paris, Yerevan, Beijing and Tel Aviv, while internally the most popular destinations were St. Petersburg, Sochi, Simferopol, Yekaterinburg, and Krasnodar.

Aeroflot, Nordwind Airlines, Rossiya Airlines, Ikar Airlines, Royal Flight and Air France flights provided the majority of passenger traffic to the airport, which contributes 50 per cent of the total passenger traffic to the Mosco Air Hub.

For the month of June alone, the airport saw an increase of 9.3 per cent year-over-year, serving a total of 4.6 million passengers.
