Strike suspended at Heathrow Airport as new pay offer made to 4,000 staff

UK trade union Unite says strike action proposed for 23-24 August at Heathrow Airport has been suspended after a new pay offer has been made to workers.

The union adds that the ballot on the revised pay offer made by Heathrow Airport Ltd (HAL) to over 4,000 security, airside operations and passenger services personnel is now underway.

The workers are employed across the hub’s five terminals and the ballot closes on Monday, 2 September.

On 5 August, a strike set to take place on 6 August was averted, while the workforce voted on an improved pay offer, but the planned strike for 23-24 August remained on the table.

Unite said at the time it would not be revealing the details of the improved offer until its members involved in the ongoing pay dispute had an opportunity to consider and vote on the new package.
