TCR and Guangtai announced the roll-out of a new, fully electric airport bus at a signing ceremony at inter airport Europe in Munich last week.
At the ceremony, Genna Liu, public relations manager at Guangtai, said: “TCR is a leading global provider of GSE [ground support equipment] rental solutions and services.
“The company is active in over 200 airports through 20 countries worldwide, managing a total fleet of over 40,000 GSE units.
“With climate change challenging our planet, global awareness of sustainability increases. At TCR, this means supporting their customers in achieving ACI’s net zero emissions ambition by 2050.
“Therefore, TCR is happy to partner with Guangtai as to support the roll-out of their electric airport bus and accelerate further electrification”.
Speaking on the details of the partnership, Kristof Philips, CCO of TCR (pictured third from the left), told Airside: “Our customers have shown a strong commitment towards a decarbonised aviation future.
“This means that there is and will be a very strong demand for green GSE buses in this context. Key will be that this GSE can be delivered in a timely way to support the commitments made, that it can be introduced at costs that allow a sustainable transition and most importantly that it is safe and reliable when in use.”
He continued: “As a result of an in-depth market product analysis, we took the decision to add the Guangtai buses to our portfolio”.
TCR said it is fully confident the product not only meets its customers’ needs but answers to the highest European standards when it comes to utilisation and maintenance.
The CCO added that “the value of the partnership lies in the fact that the customer will not source an electrical bus, but rather an electrical solution, implemented effectively at minimal cost to the end customer”.
