Universal Aviation UK achieves stage II registration under IS-BAH

Ground handling services provider Universal Aviation UK has announced its International Standard for Business Aviation Handling (IS-BAH) stage II registration.

The London Stansted-based provider, ground support division of Universal Weather and Aviation, Inc., earned its IS-BAH stage I registration in 2017 and is now one step away from the highest possible certification under the IS-BAH framework.

“We are honoured to be the first Universal Aviation location to earn IS-BAH Stage II registration, as it demonstrates our never-ending commitment to safety and reducing our customers’ operating risk and stress,” said Sean Raftery, Senior Director of International Business – Northern Europe and Africa, Universal.

The IS-BAH was set up in 2014 to encourage, promote and implement best practices in the business aviation ground handling industry, using a progressive Safety Management System (SMS) to do so.

Stage II accreditation denotes that safety management activities have been appropriately targeted in an organisation, while stage III signifies they are fully integrated into the operator’s business.

“We want to pass our congratulations to the whole Universal Aviation Stansted team in achieving IS-BAH Stage II recently,” said IS-BAH program director Terry Yeomans.

“Stage II shows that the team’s firm commitment to the management of safety to both their staff and customers at the start of this process two years ago are showing positive signs of maturity and continual improvement throughout the scope of activities offered at London Stansted to the business aviation community.”
