Vancouver International Airport begins $278 million project

Vancouver International Airport (YVR) has begun construction of its new parking structure and ground support transportation centre, which will cost an estimated $278 million.

According to sources, the project is scheduled for completion in 2021 and the parking facility – Parkade – will be across six floors with 3,600 spaces. 10 percent of the new space will be dedicated for ground support equipment, used to recharge electric vehicles (EV).

In addition, Park Assist will provide its M4 Parking Guidance System, which uses license plate recognition cameras and digital directional signage.

YVR’s multi-year expansion plans will see the airport complete 75 major projects, totalling $9.1 billion over the next 20 years.
